Lusk Recreation Hub

Lusk is getting its own eight-lane athletics track, with work at Rathmore Park due to begin on 24 August 2026.

This exciting development is the result of years of consultation, dedication and collaboration between Fingal County Council, Lusk Community Council and the local sports clubs, Lusk Community College, Rush  & Lusk Educate Together and the Parish Council represented by Lusk Sports CLG, Formerly the Lusk 2020 Sports group.. Our new athletics track is expected to be completed in July 2027 and will be managed by Lusk Sports CLG.

The project has been a real community effort, supported by Round Towers GAA Club, Lusk United, Fingal Triathlon Club, Lusk Community Council, and the principals of Lusk Community School and Lusk Educate Together.

The athletics track is just one part of this major investment in Lusk. The development will also provide an expanded car park, a floodlit all-weather Go Games and training area, a ball wall, a dedicated teen space, landscaping, storage facilities and bicycle parking.

The contractor will begin setting up and securing the site during the week beginning 24 August 2026. Temporary pedestrian diversions will be in place while construction is underway, with the work expected to take approximately 11 months.

This is a wonderful step forward for sport and recreation in our town, creating new opportunities for athletes, clubs, young people and the wider Lusk community for many years to come.

Lusk For Life

Lusk for Life is a community-led plan designed to make Lusk an even better place to live, work, visit and do business. It builds on the Lusk Vision 2030 town planing developed by the Lusk Community council in 2021. Lusk was the first town in Ireland to develop a Town Center First Plan. It brings together ideas for improving local amenities, supporting businesses, enhancing streets and green spaces, celebrating our heritage and creating a vibrant town centre for future generations. We invite you to learn more about this exciting vision for our town by downloading the full Lusk for Life Town Centre First Plan from this website.

Commoning

The stone bench on display in the carpark of Lusk Community Cultural Centre is the result of a heritage-focused collaborative design project. The project was given the title "Commoning" and funded by the Arts Council and Create. During the month of April, Lusk Community Council and two architectural graduates, Jamie and Irene, led collaborative design sessions to create a small social space for Lusk. While the project didn't allude directly to the town's heritage at first, it quickly became a central part of the design and material choice given our shared interest. Over the summer 2026 a portion of the design or "prototype" was built by Jamie, Irene, friends and locals, using materials and techniques that are traditional to Ireland. We reclaimed stone from old buildings that had been taken down on site and used lime mortar to join them. The humble bench, disarmingly uncomplicated, reflects the value that our team placed on the built heritage around us, as well as the heritage skills that produced it and the importance of keeping these alive.

The Lusk Cultural Centre

Phase II

Phase 2 of the Lusk Community Cultural Centre development on Church Road is an exciting planned expansion by Lusk Community Council, designed to strengthen the town's arts, cultural and community enterprise facilities. The proposal includes replacing the existing steel barn and field area with a community office suite, a multi-use auditorium and theatre featuring its own stage, a coffee dock plus an outdoor market square / carpark. As a key part of the Lusk for Life Town Centre First Plan, the project will help meet the needs of Lusk's growing community. Work continues to secure the support and funding needed to bring this vision to life. Explore the 3D model below for a preview of how the completed development will look.
